All bully(s) target victims in different ways in order to fabricate an excuse to bully others. The Know-It-All Bully does bullying by trying to make you look stupid in order to make him/her self look smart. I have already discussed a variety of ways for how to deal with the Know-It-All Bully. This web page is going to share with you a new way on how to confront the Know-It-All Bully.

I am an Israeli citizen now living in Israel. Israelis pride themselves on bragging about how difficult it is to learn their native language Hebrew. Yeah! It is so difficult to learn that they do not even know how to speak it themselves.

I have had quite a few experiences in which the native born Israeli Know-It-All Bully target me for bullying by incorrectly correcting my Hebrew.

The following are three real life scenarios I call, "The Artefacts" that illustrate how the Know-It-All bully gets silenced:

SCENARIO #1

I am in a Cafe ordering eggs for breakfast in Hebrew. The Israeli female server I am politely requesting my order from suddenly barks at me in Hebrew that the Hebrew word for eggs (plural) is "Baitzot". Having had many-a-day shopping in the grocery store for food, I happen to know that the Hebrew word for eggs (plural) is "Baitzeem". I tried to inform her of this little factoid - to no avail. Never argue with a Know-It-All bully they will always insist that they are right. Instead of accepting my input the Know-It-All Bully instantaneously and simultaneously morphed into the interrupting bully and the yelling bully. So, I immediately said, "Have a nice day" and I promptly left the scene.

What do you do about this kind of Know-It-All Bully in order to keep your dignity intact?

The next day, I returned to the Cafe. When the same rude for nothing server approached me to take my order, I removed an empty egg cartoon from my bag and pointed with my index finger to a lovely word that was written in Hebrew on the side of its grey colored cardboard box. It said, "Baitzeem". I gave her the grocery store bought egg cartoon and said in Hebrew, "This is for you". Her body just stood there like a statue with a flat lined expression on her face. I walked away. Imagine it! She is a native born Israeli and I am an English speaking immigrant.

SCENARIO #2

I have entered the Post Office to intercept some packages from the United States. After I sign the paperwork certifying receipt of the parcels, I requested in Hebrew a photocopy of the paperwork for my own records. Suddenly the impatient Israeli female postal clerk barks at me in Hebrew that the Hebrew word for picture is "Tzeeloom" not "Temunah". I begged to differ with her - to no avail. Never argue with a Know-It-All bully they will always insist that they are right. Instead of accepting my input the Know-It-All Bully instantaneously and simultaneously morphed into the interrupting bully and the yelling bully. So, I immediately said, "Have a nice day" and I promptly left the scene.

What do you do about this kind of Know-It-All Bully in order to keep your dignity intact?

The next day, I returned to the Post Office. When the same rude for nothing postal clerk approached me to attend to my postal affairs, I removed from my bag a page from the online Google dictionary and pointed with my index finger to the two lovely Hebrew words that represented the translation of the English word "picture". One of the Hebrew words was "Temunah" and the other was "Te-tzeeloom". In addition, I informed her that she had mis-pronounced the word "Te-tzeeloom" as "Tzeeloom". I gave her the Internet Google web page and said in Hebrew, "This is for you". Her body just stood there like a statue with a flat lined expression on her face. I walked away. Imagine it! She is a native born Israeli and I am an English speaking immigrant.

As I was walking away, I heard the manager of the Post Office say to me in Hebrew, twice, "Thank you". I guess he appreciated what I had done.

SCENARIO #3

I an inquiring at the Courthouse if a judge named Dena Ofer is there today. An unprofessional Israeli female attendant informs me that Judge Dena Ofer is not there today and suddenly barks at me in English that the judge's last name is pronounced "Afer" not "Ofer". I am not a quick study but I do learn from my mistakes. So, rather then argue with the Know-It-All bully, I immediately said, "Have a nice day" and I promptly left the scene.

What do you do about this kind of Know-It-All Bully in order to keep your dignity intact?

The next day, I returned to the Courthouse. When the same rude for nothing court attendant approached me to process my paper work, I removed from my bag the court paper that Judge Dena Ofer had issued to me and pointed with my index finger to the lovely word that was written in Hebrew that marked the Judge's last name as being "Ofer" as I had pronounced it. I explained to her in English that the word has the Hebrew letter vav in it and that is why it is pronounced as an "O" not as an "A". I gave her the legal document and said in English, "This is for you". Her body just stood there like a statue with a flat lined expression on her face. I walked away. Imagine it! She is a native born Israeli and I am an English speaking immigrant.

I have also had quite a few experiences in which the native born Israeli Know-It-All Bully target me for bullying by correctly correcting my Hebrew. He/she is not doing this for altruistic reasons. He/she is doing this for egotistical reasons to make me look stupid in order to make him/her self look smart.

What do you do about this kind of Know-It-All Bully in order to keep your dignity intact?

The answer to this question is to simply say, "Thank you for the free Hebrew lesson". He/she never says, "You are welcome". Instead his/her body always just stands there like a statue with a flat lined expression on his/her face. And I just walk away.
