On May 3, 2016, the USA Embassy in Israel replied back stating that we had to furnish them with the following documents via e-mail:

an electronic copy of their Questionnaire
an electronic copy of their Questionnaire 2)an electronic copy our USA Passports
an electronic copy our USA Passports 3) an electronic copy of our Temporary Israeli Passports
4)an electronic copy of our USA Birth Certificates
an electronic copy of our USA Birth Certificates 5)payment of their renunciation fee of $US 2,350.00 per person.

On May 10, 2016, we discovered via telephone that there were other documents we had to send -
8) an electronic copy of our Teudat Zechut (Israeli Citizenship Identification)
We decided to go thru the Renunciation of our USA citizenship process for two reasons.
One, we did not desire to pay taxes to both the United States of America and our new home Israel.

On May 16, 2016, we received an e-mail from a Lorraine L. Fin who was offering us one of several appointment times to see a Counselor to renounce our USA citizenship. I sent an e-mail back to Lorraine L. Fin on the same day with my requested appointment time for May 26, 2016 @ 2:00 p.m.

On May 26, 2016 @ 2:00 p.m., I arrived at the USA Embassy in Tel Aviv Israel. As requested of me earlier by Lorraine L. Fin, I brought all of my original documents that I had already sent to her as electronic copies via e-mail – questionnaire, birth certificate, marriage certificate, decree change of name document, teudat zechut, temporary Israeli passport, lost USA passport form, and the fee of $2,350.00.
All of my paperwork had been processed as smooth as vanilla flavored pudding.
While I was waiting for my appointment meeting I encountered a most cosmically uncanny thing. The television in the waiting lobby area of the USA Embassy Office was playing the movie “Schindler’s List”. It is a story about how a non-Jewish businessman during WWII Adolph Hitler’s Nazi Germany saved many Jews from being executed – gassed to death - in the Nazi war concentration camps.
Having complied with all of the paperwork requirements that Lorraine L Fin requested of me, I paid the $US 2,350.00 non-refundable fee to the USA Embassy in Israel to await non-approval or approval status from the State Department in Washington D.C. USA of my intention to renounce my USA citizenship.

Afterwards, I stood before the Vice Consul of the Overseas Citizens Service Department of State whose name was Robert M. Pastore with my right hand raised and made my oath that I was renouncing my USA citizenship of my OWN FREE WILL. I no longer remember the words I repeated after Robert M. Pastore. What I do recall, however, is how my body suddenly jerked an inhalation when I began uttering them and suddenly jerked an exhalation when I finished uttering them. It was the deepest inhale and the deepest exhale my lungs have ever made.
For the next two weeks I nervously awaited my fate. Renunciation of my USA citizenship meant I was finally free of COVERT POLICE VIOLENCE. My renunciation of USA citizenship paperwork was now going to be forwarded to the U.S. Department of State in Washington D.C. for review. They had the final authority on whether or not I was going to be approved or disapproved.
I ate more chocolate during those two weeks than I ever consumed in my entire life.

On June 8, 2016, an e-mail from Lorraine L. Fin was in our e-mail box. It read, “This is to inform you that your Loss of Nationality Certificate is ready and you can come in to pick it up, Monday to Friday, at 2:30 p.m.”

On June 29, 2016 @ 2:00 p.m., my spouse and I arrived at the USA Embassy in Tel Aviv Israel. He brought a Pearl Harbor file of scanned copied and original paperwork prepared for Lorraine L. Fin to claim she did not have this or that or these or those documents. Instead Lorraine L. Fin greeted us in a cordial manner. “Hello Mr. Michael and Mrs. Elana Laham”. I guess she respected the fact that we prevented her from playing merry-go-round with my husband’s paperwork.
